Indian Grave Point Cave

This cave is locally well know and often visited. It is one of the largest caves in it's area. It is located on private property but the landowners are caver friendly, so far. I have visited this cave several times and I really enjoy the cave. It has a fair share of trash and spray paint, and it has been vandalized as much as any other popular cave. But it is still a very enjoyable cave and it has a lot to offer.

The photos below are from several different visits to Indian Grave Point. If you ever find your way to this cave, please try to improve it's condition, not worsen it.

Upper Cumberland Grotto members outside the cave just after the trip. Standing, L-R: Durai Mohan, Greg King, Andrew Dickins, Nora Dickins. Jay Greene kneeling.

Chris Sittle and Scott Bonnell in the background. Chris is standing next to a fountain formation not too far from the entrance to the cave.

Chris standing on the very delicate edge of some rimstone. Please do not do this. This particular rimstone has been walked on heavily in the past and is already damaged. Even so, we should not have walked on it.

Chris inspecting the rope up into the Great Lakes Extension.

Greg King on the same rope seen in photo above.

Durai Mohan almost to the top of the climbup. The water was down in the Great Lakes when we were there. The "Great Lakes" has nothing to do with the actual lakes in the northern part of North America and are merely a name of an area in the cave.

A pool in the passage that leads to the Great Lakes extension of the cave.

The same pool as seen in above photograps, but taken several years later.

That's me (Jay Greene) in about 1987. I have since joined a grotto (the UCG) and learned how to cave properly, which includes NOT laying on formations.
